“Empowering you to do more with technology”
Meet the Team
An enthusiastic teacher, trainer, and consultant with 20 years’ experience of using ICT for learning and teaching, Steven founded Standout Education in 2013.
He has worked with the Microsoft Education team for the past five years, supporting school leaders, teachers, and students to make the most of technology. He is a certified Microsoft Learning Consultant, demonstrating his deep understanding and experience of transformation and digital strategy, particularly with Microsoft 365.
He has previously worked as a teacher and education consultant, both in Australia and in the UK, supporting schools and jurisdictions to make effective use of ICT and improve learning outcomes.
Steven is currently working with a number of schools on implementing Microsoft Office 365, helping to improve communication and collaboration.
Steven is also experienced in using ICT creatively across curriculum areas and runs engaging workshops for staff and students, incorporating a range of ICT and STEM activities including Minecraft, 3D modelling, robotics, and coding.
He has a particular interest in the role of technology in inclusive education and enjoys helping teachers develop and adapt strategies to support the needs of all students.
Steven’s work with businesses is focused on maximising the value of Office 365 for communication, collaboration, and personal productivity. He works with businesses through all stages of the transformation journey – from planning, through on-boarding, to ongoing support and training.
He has developed training courses to support users with the tools available in Office 365, including Teams, Sway, Yammer, Planner, Flow, Forms, OneNote, OneDrive, Stream, and SharePoint – and has customised training solutions that fit with the workflows and priorities of a range of businesses, government departments, schools, and universities.
Steve recently joined the Standout Education team after working in some of Perth’s premier schools for the past 18 years. He has already hit the ground running, delivering professional learning opportunities to schools on Office 365 tools and Minecraft in Education.
Originally a PE and Health Teacher, Steve jumped at the chance to teach Technology subjects and held numerous positions as a Teacher of Health and PE, Lower School and Upper School Computer Subjects including AIT, Computer Science and Media Studies. He had the opportunity to work as a Head of Department before developing and following a passion to help other teachers and students develop their digital literacy as the Head of ICT Integration at All Saints’ College and more recently at Hale School.
Those roles were primarily focussed in changing the culture to improve effective computer use and support teachers in and out of the classroom, embedding ICT into the curriculum. He has been at the forefront of technology change in Education and over the years, become a Microsoft Innovative Teacher and Trainer, assisting schools in implementing all tools within Office 365.
Steve is passionate and a big supporter of what Microsoft are doing for Education. He is grateful and fortunate to have built a rewarding career founded on the digital tools given to teachers and students to engage, develop skills in the 4 C’s and improve learning outcomes and teaching practice in Education.
